Nestled in the heart of Stewart Town, Trelawny, Westwood High School stands as a beacon of educational excellence on 12 acres of lush hillside overlooking the picturesque Martha Brae River valley. Since our founding in 1954, we have grown from a small community school serving fewer than 100 students into one of Trelawny's most respected secondary institutions, nurturing young minds in an environment that perfectly balances academic rigor with natural beauty.
Our commitment to educational excellence is reflected in our outstanding achievements, particularly in science and mathematics, where we have claimed the parish Science Fair championship for five consecutive years. Beyond academics, Westwood High School offers a vibrant array of extracurricular activities including our championship-winning netball team, award-winning school choir, thriving 4-H club, and innovative robotics programme launched in 2019.
Over seven decades, Westwood has proudly produced distinguished alumni who have become judges, doctors, educators, and entrepreneurs, making significant contributions both nationally and internationally. Our school community embodies the spirit of our motto, 'Excellence Through Perseverance,' as we continue to inspire determination and resilience in every student who walks through our doors. At Westwood High School, we don't just educate students – we shape future leaders who will make a positive impact on Jamaica and beyond.
